Dream Life Wealth Management

Jakhongir 'King' Mirtalipov
Founder and Principal Advisor
My journey began in late 1997 when I came to the United States from Uzbekistan as a student. Like many immigrants before me, I came with the same hope to start over and build a Dream Life in a new country.
I studied finance, fell in love with investing, and graduated in 2001 with a goal to work on Wall Street. That June, I moved to New York City.
Three months later, on September 11th, that dream shattered along with so much else. The financial district I'd hoped to break into was in ruins, and the city I'd just arrived in was transformed overnight.
With no plan B, I took the only job I could find, a sales position at a small furniture store in Brooklyn. It was supposed to be temporary. It turned into seventeen years.
I worked my way up from the sales floor to managing stores for some of the largest furniture retailers in the country. It was a demanding career with long hours, weekends, holidays, years of missed time with family. But it taught me discipline, how to connect with people, and what it truly means to earn someone's trust.
Through all those years, two things never changed.
I never stopped studying the markets. I'd been managing my own investments since college and continued reading, learning, staying close to the world of finance even when my day job had nothing to do with it.
And I kept seeing the same pattern around me. People from the former Soviet Union who came here twenty, thirty years ago were busy building their new lives, studying, raising families, working hard, but most of them had no one to turn to when it came to personal finance. Most of them had to figure out the American financial system on their own, and they did the best they could. Now, as retirement is getting closer or already here, a lot of them have questions they've never had someone to ask.
When the opportunity came to become a financial advisor in 2018, I didn't think twice. After several years of advising, I knew I wanted to go further. I didn't want to sell products or be driven by commissions. I wanted to serve my clients with their best interest in mind and fiduciary responsibility.
In 2025, I started Dream Life Wealth Management — a fee-only, 100% fiduciary, registered investment advisory firm. My only obligation, legally and ethically, is to act in my clients' best interest.
My clients are Russian-speaking Americans who came to this country twenty or more years ago. After decades of hard work and sacrifice, they've built careers, businesses, and real savings. Today they're preparing for retirement or already living it. They want more than a financial plan. They want an advisor who speaks their language, understands their journey, and treats them like a person, not a portfolio. Most of our conversations go well beyond money, because of the trust and relationship we have built over the years, and I cherish every single one of them.
Money isn't the goal. The life you want to live is the goal.
The freedom to spend time with your family. The confidence that your future is secure. The ability to actually enjoy the years you worked so hard for. That's what "Dream Life" means. It's not something we start building today. It's something we carried with us long before we came to this country. My job is to help make sure Your dream continues, with a real plan behind it.
I work with clients nationwide through virtual meetings. If you're local to Charlotte, North Carolina, I'm happy to meet with you in person.
